Medical packaging manufacturer Coveris is set to launch a new recyclable, flexible thermoforming film solution, called Formpeel P, for use in various medical packaging applications.
The film will be launched during the upcoming international trade fair COMPAMED 2023, which is scheduled to be held between 13 and 16 November in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The co-extruded film has been designed specifically to provide high protection for medical products.
This solution, according to the company, is suitable for thermoforming purposes and offers puncture resistance.
It can be used for different medical packaging purposes and depending on the application, can be used on a peelable polyethylene or polyolefin base.
In addition, the Formpeel P film can serve as a solution for ethylene oxide sterilisation, as well as plasma and gamma irradiation.
Coveris Medical director Jan-Willem Bruijsten said: “At Coveris we have built our entire strategy around a vision of No Waste because we believe that fighting waste in all its forms is the driving force behind a more sustainable future.
“As part of this journey we launched a brand new division this year - ReCover - which offers unique recycling solutions for the packaging industry.
“The game-changing waste repurposing process is closing the loop by using a highly effective deinking and mechanical recycling technology, reusing high-quality feedstock from plastic packaging to produce new packaging material.”
Once launched, Formpeel P will be added to Coveris’ existing portfolio of sustainable materials comprising its Formpeel T, Flexopeel T, and Cleerpeel solutions.
The new solution has been designed to provide the same functionality and safety as that of the company’s existing packaging materials.
The company said that Formpeel P, when used together with Cleerpeel, can help in the sterile extraction of medical products while ensuring the use of sustainable resources.
Coveris has announced collaborating with Notpla to offer sustainable takeaway boxes for the Open ATP 500 tennis competition in Vienna, Austria.
