European packaging company Coveris is set to unveil its latest sustainable packaging solutions for the food industry at this year's (2024) Anuga FoodTec exhibition in Germany.

At the event, the company will showcase its BarrierFresh MAP skillets, designed to extend the shelf life of sandwiches.

The skillets are in line with Coveris' commitment to reducing food waste by controlling the pack's atmosphere, thus keeping products fresher for longer.

These skillets are also claimed to offer excellent product visibility, branding opportunities, and robust protection.

In addition to the MAP skillets, Coveris will display its extended range of recyclable MonoFlex films and laminates made from polyethylene and polypropylene.

The MonoFlex packaging solution reportedly serves as a direct replacement for non-recyclable plastics, maintaining shelf life and performance across various food markets such as meat, fresh produce, poultry, and dairy.

Coveris will also present its 100% paper-based block bottom bags, catering to brands in the bakery, dried foods, confectionery, and snack sectors.

These bags provide barrier protection against external factors, thereby offering a sustainable packaging alternative.

Coveris BU Flexibles business development director Katja Killian said: "At Coveris we built our entire sustainability strategy around the vision of No Waste as we believe that fighting waste in all its forms is the driving force of a more sustainable future.

"Our packaging fits into this strategy well and offer the market what it has been looking for years - sustainable yet highly effective and protective solutions.”

Anuga FoodTec, a trade fair for food technology, is scheduled from 19 to 22 March, 2024, in Cologne.

In November last year, Coveris developed and launched a new recyclable thermoforming film packaging solution, called MonoFlex Thermoform.
