Portuguese digital printing solutions provider MTEX has partnered with Delta for a comprehensive automation overhaul, propelling its printers to new levels of precision and efficiency.

Comprehensive printer upgrades

MTEX aimed to transcend legacy control systems, opting for a scalable, flexible solution.

The focus was on two pigment printers: the entry-level MTEX NS MULTI 800 and the modular MTEX NS MULTI 1300.

These printers, equipped with advanced servo drives and motors, underwent transformative upgrades for faster and more precise performance.

Choosing Delta

Delta said MTEX had “several reasons for choosing Delta as its partner”. The company claims it offers not only component expertise but also end-to-end solutions in industrial automation.

The partnership facilitated a seamless transition during an intensive six-month upgrade period.

Delta components transforming printing dynamics

Key Delta components, including servo drives, motors, inverters, and a motion controller, were integrated into the MTEX printers.

The utilisation of EtherCAT connectivity enhanced integration into Industry 4.0 environments, providing scalability and flexibility in print jobs.

Delta's support extended beyond hardware, introducing the Codesys automation software for effective control and programming.

Enhanced results and future expansion

The upgraded printers not only meet MTEX's requirements for faster and more precise printing but also seamlessly integrate into Industry 4.0 ecosystems.

With Codesys empowering flexible programming, MTEX plans to deploy the technology across 250 NS MULTI 800 and 100 NS MULTI 1300 printers, with future upgrades already on the horizon for larger models.

Enric Tamarit, field application manager, Industrial Automation Business Group at Delta EMEA, emphasised the success of the project in a statement:

“The success of this upgrade project is largely due to the fact that we at Delta have not only supplied the required components but also offered an entire service package, which, in addition to planning and implementation, also included consulting, and a well-designed software training.”
