Japanese company Fujifilm has rolled out a new indirect food contact ink series, named CuremaX IDFC.

The new series features a range of gloss LED UV inks that come with the option to be cured using conventional lamps.

This dual-cure product line was designed specifically for printing on food and pharmaceutical packaging, ensuring indirect food contact safety and minimising the risk of migration.

CuremaX inks are ideal for narrow web labels, accommodating a variety of applications such as self-adhesive labels, unsupported films, saturated pouches, and shrink sleeves.

Label printers can use CuremaX on all synthetic and non-synthetic substrates, including PE, PP, OPP, PET, PVC, aluminium, coated and uncoated papers.

Designed to provide high colour density and replicate the full pantone colour library, the inks come in various low-viscosity, high press-ready colours.

Furthermore, the inks can be over-printed with thermal transfer ribbons and cold foil adhesives.

Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems aftermarket manager Steve Wakefield said: “The launch of CuremaX IDFC marks an exciting time for Fujifilm. We’re confident that these inks will enable customers to explore new markets and achieve new standards with confidence.

“Additionally, the dual cure option offers printers flexibility, no matter what their business requirements are.

“CuremaX, in combination with our newly launched LuXtreme LED curing system and our Flenex water washable flexo plates, provides customers with the perfect combination of reliability, performance, efficiency and sustainability, via one partner.”

CuremaX IDFC is claimed to be formulated to adhere to The Swiss Ordinance (SR 817.023. 21), which defines provisions particularly associated to printing inks for non-food contact surfaces of food contact materials.

Additionally, the inks are made to conform to the European Framework regulation.
