Guala Closures, a provider of closure systems specifically for spirit packaging, has acquired the remaining 30% stake in Guala Closures Bulgaria.
The acquisition strengthens Guala Closures' position as a key player in the luxury closures sector.
Guala Closures president Gabriele Del Torchio said: "This acquisition aims to strengthen Guala Closures’ presence in the luxury closures segment, those closures designed to enhance the distinctive identity of each brand by embodying aesthetics, design, and functionality, thanks to the combination of premium materials and cutting-edge production technologies promoted by our R&D [research and development] centres."
Guala Closures acquired the Bulgarian facility in 2010 and it has since played a significant role in the company’s global operations.
The facility employs more than 270 people and recorded a growth of over 40% over the past four years.
The facility's strategic importance is underscored by its role as a hub for producing luxury closures, leveraging specialised materials such as glass, wood, ceramics, and zamak.
Guala Closures' global network, spanning from Mexico to China, includes more than 200 active intellectual property (IP) rights.
The Bulgarian R&D centre is integral to this network, offering technical expertise in closure production. This facility's capabilities in mould production enhance vertical integration, enabling Guala Closures to meet production demands efficiently.
Guala Closures Bulgaria general manager Tancho Mihaylov said: "In recent years, we have worked not only to ensure that our products are manufactured with cutting-edge technologies and materials but also to maintain full control over the entire production process, from design to the final product.
“We firmly believe in the importance of specialisation and in pursuing one of the group's most important objectives: offering tailor-made solutions that best meet our customers' needs.”
