Harpak-ULMA introduces Mondini’s Trave Sinfonia tray sealer

Trave Sinfonia allows the producers to completely automate their tray packaging processes.

Harpak-ULMA, a smart, connected packaging solutions provider, has announced the availability of a new tray sealing technology, called ‘Mondini Trave Sinfonia’.

The new solution has been developed by Italian packaging solutions company Giovanni Mondini.

It has been designed to help snack and meal manufacturers to boost their packaging throughput in a smaller and more flexible footprint, with comparatively reduced labour needs.

Mondini Trave Sinfonia also allows the producers to completely automate their tray packaging processes.

Simultaneously, the operators get to fully control the product loading, with positional accuracy within 10 microns, sealing as well as unloading process.

This simplified process, Harpak-ULMA said, is integrated with Mondini’s next generation sealer, which provides 33,000 pounds of sealing pressure and has a 1500mm long tooling footprint.

The new Mondini sealer can further be connected with the electronically controlled magnetic track system.

This software-controlled track system allows Trave Sinfonia to attain high tray throughput within a compact form factor, with minimal manual interaction.

The magnetic rail is also capable of independently carrying trolleys, referred as nests.

Harpak-ULMA explains that each of the nest serves as a bottom sealing tool that eliminates the requirement of removing the package from nest for sealing it.

This digital system also provides accurate control of every individual tray and its position, velocity and acceleration electronically.

Harpak-ULMA Tray Seal manager Carlo Bergonzi said: “The ability to optimize each aspect of the packaging process individually while increasing control – along with reduced machine complexity and footprint – is unique.

“In a typical packaging line, the slowest or least efficient point dictates line speed and efficiency. In this case such constraints do not gate an individual nest.

“The new system is a huge efficiency boost to automated loading as each nest can move independently to whatever loading station is needed. In another example, we can load intermittently at one depositor and continuously at another.”
