Henkel Adhesive Technologies has introduced a cleaner and coater technology to boost efficiency and sustainability in metal pretreatment.
The technology is intended to help users in the metal industry reduce the number of process steps by half while saving water and energy.
It aligns with Henkel’s sustainability campaign 'Respect the Planet, Rethink Design'.
Henkel's new technology addresses the challenge of cleaning and coating metal surfaces that are vital for corrosion protection and paint adhesion.
These processes also ensure the quality and performance of products ranging from household appliances to heavy machinery.
In a white paper, the company showed how its technology can reduce the processing steps from ten to four using the latest generation of coaters.
Henkel said that the process involves its Bonderite M-NT 41044 solution, a product which can clean and coat metal parts in a single step.
Bonderite M-NT 41044 is a phosphate-free liquid product for conversion coating intended for improving corrosion resistance.
The product can be used together with powder and wet or cataphoresis coating applications in the general industry.
Henkel Adhesive Technologies EIMEA Industry vice-president Volker Mansfeld said: “Our commitment to a sustainable metal industry is at the heart of Henkel’s business.
“Together with our customers, we are rethinking the status quo and reinventing existing processes to deliver a positive impact. This optimisation process is focused on high-performance products with a responsible approach to natural resources."
In April this year, Henkel announced an engagement programme, called 'Climate Connect', for its global packaging, traded goods, and raw material suppliers.
