Macfarlane Group, a packaging company headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland, has announced the acquisition of protective packaging distributor Allpack Packaging Supplies.
The deal aligns with the company’s strategy to build its protective packaging business through a combination of organic and acquisitive growth.
Based in East Anglia, England, UK, Allpack supplies a diverse range of sectors from its warehouse near Bury St Edmunds.
Following the acquisition, Allpack's team, including three directors and seven other employees, will continue as normal with their business.
The acquisition follows a series of acquisitions over the past year and Macfarlane expects it to enhance its earnings.
The companies have not disclosed the financial terms of the transaction.
Macfarlane CEO Peter Atkinson said: "This latest transaction follows three acquisitions undertaken in the prior 12 months, and clearly demonstrates further progress in executing against our buy-and-build strategy.
“Allpack Packaging Supplies is a well-run, successful protective packaging distributor with an experienced management team. Their addition to the Macfarlane Group further strengthens our ability to serve customers in East Anglia. We look forward to working with the team at Allpack Packaging Supplies to support its continued growth.”
Macfarlane Packaging supplies protective packaging to businesses in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
In financial year 2023 (FY2023), it reported a 4% decline in profits, with figures falling to £14.9m ($19.08m) from £15.6m in FY2022.
In October last year, Macfarlane acquired Barum and Dewar Group, a specialist in protective packaging, for a maximum cash consideration of approximately £3.85m.
