European decorative packaging solutions provider, Masterpress, has unveiled a significant expansion of its production capacities along with a strategic push into fresh European markets.

The move aligns with the company’s growth commitment and its dedication to meeting the increasing demand for high-quality, inventive and sustainable printing and packaging solutions.

Masterpress has invested in expanding its production capabilities in Białystok, Poland, by adding approximately 16 million square meters of capacity per year.

This expansion, which includes the installation of two new sleeve printing machines, marks a nearly 40% increase in production capacity.

The decision to bolster capacity is a response to both current and anticipated growth in customer demand, particularly in France, the DACH and BENELUX regions.

As part of its strategy to tap into new markets, Masterpress has appointed Erwann Paugam as Sales Director, bringing a wealth of experience in the shrink sleeve industry.

Cutting-edge printing technology unveiled

The two new hybrid printing machines, featuring 12 and 14 stations respectively, are equipped to handle various materials and varnishes within a single printing cycle.

This technological advancement allows for UV flexo printing, embossed and Braille printing, as well as web perforation. Importantly, the machines enhance Masterpress’ ability to provide more environmentally friendly sleeve printing solutions.

This includes energy-efficient UV LED drying and the capacity to print on films as thin as 12 microns, promoting resource efficiency. The expanded capabilities aim to offer Masterpress clients a broader range of creative, colourful and functional effects.

Masterpress’ vision for the future

Masterpress General Manager Jeroen de Haan emphasised the company’s commitment to customer-centric manufacturing. He stated:

“For the last 27 years, and since the early beginnings of the company, we have endeavoured to partner closely with our customers, seeking to provide tailored, creative and functional printed decorative packaging solutions that help their products stand out from the crowd.”

Looking forward, de Haan outlined the company's ambitious vision to double its revenue within the next five to ten years, leveraging the expected 5-7% annual growth in the shrink sleeve market.

Global food packaging industry witnessing an uptick in demand for personalized packaging

Per GlobalData analysis, the South-East Asia construction industry in 2023 is dominated by Indonesia, though the country will see a slowdown compared to 2022 due to elevated building material prices, weak commercial property demand, high interest rates and a softening of external demand. The construction industry in the Philippines is estimated to register a AAGR of 7.2% between 2024 and 2027, supported by the government’s focus on the development of the country’s rail and road transport and energy infrastructure.
