Healthcare company Medline has announced a re-packaging initiative for its Remedy Skin Care line, which services acute care and post-acute care.

The healthcare packaging market is expected to reach $200.8bn by 2031, with a rising number of heavy investments by pharma and medical industry giants to enhance packaging qualities.

Healthcare packaging requires a different approach to other sectors, as it must focus on clear and striking labelling to minimise potential confusion and maximise efficiency for medical professionals.

Following its colour-coding system, Medline has updated its packaging in line with feedback from research studies conducted with nurses.

This includes intuitive product labelling to state the function and help nurses quickly find the most effective product.

In addition, enhanced colour-coding on both ends of the packaging has been added to help medical professionals quickly and confidently identify the purpose of the product regardless of how it is stored.

The colours are green for cleansing products, purple for moisturisation, blue for products that prevent infection, orange for protection and red for products that treat skin with fungal infection.

The packaging also includes updated education to clearly outline how to use the products effectively. This is supported with online training modules and colour-coordinated recourses such as posters and print outs.

Medline director of product management Josh Kolof commented: “This latest enhancement focuses on leveraging useful packaging and education to empower nurses and help them deliver high quality patient care.”
