Mikart buys FlexPack’s NF-150 Horizontal Sachet-Packaging machine

The machine is set to expand the company's current portfolio significantly.

Mikart, a contract development and manufacturing organisation, has purchased a packaging machine from Spain-headquartered horizontal form, fill and seal machines solutions provider Flexpack.

The new Flexpack NF-150 Horizontal Sachet-Packaging machine will be used by Mikart for clinical and commercial manufacturing packaging.

The machine will allow Mikart to address the growing demands of its customers.

This latest strategic investment marks a key milestone for the company towards achieving its commitment to improve its overall production capabilities to deliver pharmaceutical products.

Mikart CEO Micheal Kallelis said: “We believe that our investment in the Flexpack NF-150 marks a pivotal moment for Mikart's capabilities expansion plan.

“The sachet packaging capabilities was done as a result of customer demand and will enhance our packaging capabilities, allowing us to deliver a wider packaging offering for the pharmaceutical products we manufacture.”

Mikart specialises in providing various services, including developmental project work and commercial manufacturing for solid and liquid oral dosages.

The company’s packaging portfolio currently includes blister packaging, cartoning and tray packaging, and unit dose cups, among others.

Mikart Product Development Services vice-president Nazar Elkarim said: “We are excited to add the Flexpack NF-150 to our packaging capabilities.

“This machine will allow us to produce a wider variety of pouches, including single or twin sachets, and different shapes. This will help us to better meet the needs of our customers as our business continues to grow.”

In 2022, flexible packaging was the most used pack material, followed by rigid plastics.
