Multinational packaging and paper company Mondi has said that its entire portfolio of kraft paper for packaging has been certified as home or industrially compostable.
Made from renewable sources, the company’s kraft papers will enable its customers to achieve their respective sustainability goals.
The papers are used for manufacturing shopping bags for retailers, industrial packaging for clients, and food packaging for supermarkets.
Among others, Mondi’s certified-compostable kraft paper portfolio now includes its Advantage MF EcoComp and EcoVantage solutions.
The Advantage MF EcoComp solution is made of responsibly sourced Nordic fibres and is intended for use in consumers' households and the agricultural industry while the EcoVantage product, which contains fresh and recycled fibres, is designed for food packaging.
These certifications strengthen Mondi's Action Plan 2030 (MAP2030) sustainability commitment.
As part of this target, the company aims to make 100% of its packaging and paper products reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025.
Mondi Specialty Kraft Paper sales director Silvia Hanzelova said: “Certifications like these illustrate our ongoing commitment to provide our customers with the most suitable and sustainable packaging materials and solutions.
“They give all our industrial, commercial and manufacturing customers the confidence that our papers are compostable and reassure them that, with us, they are working towards a more sustainable future. A future that continues to provide strong, effective packaging tailored to their individual needs.”
Earlier in September this year, Mondi partnered with pallet-wrapping machinery manufacturer Robopac to launch a new paper-wrapping solution with its kraft paper, Advantage StretchWrap.
