American company Morris Packaging is set to invest $60.9m in a new production facility in Lebanon, Kentucky, US.

The new facility, which will span more than 100,000ft², is expected to boost Morris Packaging’s capabilities in printing and bag conversion. It will also offer a backup solution for clients throughout the US.

The company said the plant will adhere to food quality standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

The facility is designed with the potential for future growth and scalability. It is expected to contribute to the company’s expansion in the flexible packaging market.

Morris Packaging offers a wide range of services, including sustainable packaging, warehousing, inventory control, and logistics.

With its headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, and additional facilities in Minnesota and Missouri, it serves customers across multiple industries.

The expansion is expected to enhance the company’s ability to serve its national client base.

Morris Packaging owner and CEO Jim Bob Morris said: “We are beyond excited to start a new journey in Lebanon, Kentucky and become another well-respected member of the business community in town, as well as all surrounding cities and counties.

“As a privately held company, we treat our employees as family and provide a working environment and benefits package second to none. Sustainable flexible packaging is here to stay, and we look forward to welcoming many new team members to our extended family.”

Construction of the new site is scheduled for completion by this October. The development is anticipated to generate 276 permanent job opportunities.

Kentucky's governor Andy Beshear said: “I’d like to welcome Morris Packaging to Marion County and to their New Kentucky Home, as well as the 276 quality jobs the company will create with this investment.

“This is the latest company to recognise the value of locating in Kentucky and the many strengths our state offers to ensure businesses thrives.

“Morris Packaging will be a great addition to our sustainability efforts and to our manufacturing sector, which continues to diversify and grow.”
