In a move targeting growing consumer demand, Namaqua Wines, a leading South African producer, has selected SIG as its preferred supplier for carton packaging of its low-alcohol wine range.
This marks Namaqua's first investment in its own aseptic carton filling technology, previously relying on co-packers.
The company has opted for SIG's Slimline Aseptic filling machine and production has already begun for Namaqua's low-alcohol wines in SIG's SlimlineBloc 1 litre cartons.
Namaqua believes this new packaging solution, combined with its modern low-alcohol wines, caters to evolving consumer preferences and strengthens its market position.
“By investing for the first time in our very own filling technology for aseptic carton packs, we aim to set the course for further growth, starting with our low alcohol wine range,” said Gabor Rapolthy, Head of Marketing and Analytics at Namaqua Wines.
“Our close partnership with SIG will help us to continue our robust growth, increase production volume, and expand our presence in the South African market even further.”
Namaqua, a major player in South Africa's renowned wine industry, is known for its diverse portfolio reflecting the region's unique character. The company said it boasts the production of nearly one-sixth of all wine in South Africa.
“SIG has been established in South Africa for many decades and this new investment by Namaqua Wines is another step forward for us in the country,” stated Abdelghany Eladib, President & General Manager India, Middle East and Africa at SIG.
“As a leading supplier of carton packaging for wine in South Africa, we’re looking forward to growing our partnership with Namaqua, starting with its low alcohol wine selection.”
