Customised and contract packaging solutions provider PAC Worldwide has expanded its capabilities in Central America with the opening of a new full-service flexible packaging facility in Mexico.
The company transferred its operations from the previous Pedro Escobedo-based location in the country to the new facility.
Located in Vistha San Juan del Rio, this new, larger 83,000ft² factory will produce a variety of poly products and solutions such as the company's Mailjacket and Polyjacket mailers, as well as roll film, security bags, and pouches.
At full capacity, the plant is said to be capable of manufacturing more than 700,000 bags daily.
The new opening expands PAC's fibre and polymer manufacturing capabilities primarily in food-grade packaging.
PAC said that its paper products plant in nearby San Juan Valle will continue to operate.
The company entered the Mexican market 26 years ago with its first plant in the Querétaro area.
That factory supplies various industries across North America and Mexico.
PAC Worldwide president Thomas Parenteau said: "This was a significant undertaking, involving a lot of detailed planning and coordination.
"Our team did an excellent job of integrating systems, machinery, and workforce. The result of their efforts is a best-in-class operation that expands manufacturing capacity and increases our operating efficiencies."
PAC Worldwide offers protective mailers/envelopes and speciality packaging for various markets such as the e-commerce and fulfilment and distribution sectors.
The privately-owned company has more than 1,300 employees across the US, the UK, Mexico, and Malaysia.
It expects to scale up its team by 15% or more during the upcoming Christmas mailing season.
