Paskenta Mad River Brewery, a tribally owned business in the US, has unveiled new packaging for its craft beer, Steelhead Extra Pale Ale.

Currently offered in 12oz six-packs and 12oz 12-packs, the company has announced that the ale will soon be available in a 12oz can 12-pack.

Paskenta Mad River Brewery tribal chair Brandin Paya said: “This new package is symbolic of our vision for the future, expanding our offerings and making improvements that keep us ahead in the industry.

“As we develop a family of brands, we aim to make Paskenta tribal products stand out on the shelf, setting the bar for a new category in craft beer.”

The brewery is owned and operated by the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, who acquired it in 2024.

Additionally, the tribal brewery is in the midst of upgrading its equipment, including the installation of a larger and more efficient commercial canning line.

The brewery's existing canning line produces 35 cans per minute, but the new line, which is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year, will triple the production speed for the brewery’s popular ales and seltzers.

The company noted that this solidifies its position as a heritage brand in the industry with a promising future ahead.

Paskenta Mad River Brewery general manager Linda Cooley said: “Steelhead is a timeless beer that has been bringing people together since its release. Its success is a testament to the heart of our efforts in the craft beer industry.

“While our brand has evolved, Steelhead remains a quintessential part with a huge platform.

“This new package exemplifies our dedication to quality while expanding our reach, spotlighting tribal self-determination and resilience with a product people have loved for decades.”
