ProAmpac, a flexible packaging and material sciences company, has launched a new high-barrier fibre-based solution, named ‘ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt’, in Europe.
This sustainable solution has been designed for a wide range of thermoforming applications and is suitable for several products such as sliced cheese, chilled cooked meats, cold cuts, and fish.
ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt is compliant with On-Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) guidelines and contains more than 90% paper content.
It can be formed up to 22mm on Multivac lines to offer a versatile and printable fibre-based packaging option to packaging companies and brands.
The solution is also kerbside recyclable in the UK and Ireland, supporting a more circular economy approach.
ProAmpac said that this solution is also exempt from the UK plastics tax.
The new packaging solution further contributes to plastic reduction targets, with a significant 93% reduction in plastic use compared to standard plastic alternatives.
In addition, ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt presents several sustainability advantages and offers a natural shelf presence while meeting consumer demand for more renewable packaging materials.
The solution is printable on both sides in up to eight colours, with bleached or kraft options available.
FibreSculpt can be supplied on a reel and is currently available in reel lengths ranging from 200m to 1,200m, providing flexibility for various packaging needs.
ProAmpac Europe product development engineer Adam West said: “ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt has excellent grease resistance for optimum shelf appearance and a very high barrier to maintain product shelf life.
“Coupled with ProAmpac’s high-barrier top web solutions with paper texture, ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt provides customers with a more sustainable and premium flexible packaging platform.”
Last September, ProAmpac launched its ProActive Recyclable Paper 1000 high-barrier packaging solution, as part of its ProActive Recyclable RP-1000 series.
