ProAmpac, a flexible packaging and material sciences company, has launched its polypropylene-based ProActive Recyclable Fresh Tray FT-1000 solution for the food industry.

The patent-pending tray has been approved for kerbside recycling.

It offers the foodservice and grocery markets a lightweight, easily recyclable alternative to traditional foam trays.

ProAmpac tray business vice-president and general manager Pascal Labrie said: "ProActive Recyclable Fresh Tray FT-1000 offers grocery and food retail markets a robust, sustainable packaging solution that aligns seamlessly with their operational needs.

"By adopting the FT-1000, these sectors can meet their sustainability goals without compromising performance or customer satisfaction. This tray is a significant step forward in our commitment to supporting the food industry's environmental initiatives and advancing recyclable packaging choices."

cFT-1000 is designed with durability in mind, featuring impact resistance and stiffness, making it suitable for meat, seafood, dairy, and produce applications.

Its water and grease resistance also ensures products remain fresh and visually appealing on the shelf.

ProAmpac technical specialist Maryam Dini said: “Without compromising performance, ProActive Recyclable Fresh Tray FT-1000 maintains line speed on wrapping equipment, matching the efficiency of traditional rigid trays. Also, ProAmpac’s FT-1000 is comprised of up to 90% air, significantly reducing material footprint, making this innovative technology a more sustainable alternative."

Earlier in February this year, ProAmpac introduced ‘ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt’ in Europe, a high-barrier, fibre-based solution designed for a range of thermoforming applications.

The company also unveiled ProActive Recyclable FiberCool, a kerbside-recyclable insulated bag for food and grocery delivery, which reportedly boasts better temperature retention than traditional options.
