US-based flexible packaging company ProAmpac has committed to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) under the net-zero pathway.

ProAmpac will establish long-term, science-based targets to achieve net-zero value chain emissions by 2050 and will submit these targets for SBTi validation within the next two years.

As part of its commitment, the company is transforming its product portfolio to offer sustainable packaging solutions.

This aligns with the company’s wider goal of advancing solutions that contribute to the circular economy and drive sustainability within the packaging industry.

The company has also been recognised with the EcoVadis Bronze Medal for enhancing eco-friendly processes across its brand.

ProAmpac founder, vice-chair, and CEO Greg Tucker said: "These accomplishments reflect ProAmpac's dedication to empowering our customers in their sustainability efforts and are testaments to our strategic alignment with sustainable growth.

"By pioneering sustainable practices and minimising our environmental impact, we ensure our packaging solutions align with the values that matter most to today's consumers."

ProAmpac will exhibit its latest sustainability commitments at this year's PACK EXPO International, which will be held in early November in Chicago, US.

The company will also introduce its Moisture Protect series of film solutions, which is designed as part of its ProActive Intelligence portfolio to tackle moisture control without desiccant sachets.

Based in Cincinnati, US, ProAmpac offers packaging solutions and customer service to the global marketplace.

In July this year, the company reported a 3.59% increase in its scope 1 emissions for 2023 compared to the 2021 baseline.

Meanwhile, scope 2 emissions decreased by 0.89% during the year compared to the baseline.
