ProAmpac, a flexible packaging and material science company, has announced the commercialisation of its ProActive Recyclable Paper (RP)-1050 product line.

The new fibre-based, kerbside-recyclable packaging option is intended for tissue products.

Initially introduced in North America, the RP-1050 range has replaced traditional film overwraps in the region, gaining significant commercial success and is now also available in Europe.

The RP-1050 platform, which includes local manufacturing in Europe, underscores ProAmpac's dedication to global sustainability.

This solution offers brands a recyclable alternative to the conventional plastic film used for overwraps.

ProAmpac product development vice-president Jim Tierney said: "RP-1050 is a prime example of a sustainable product with multiregional applications, helping brands worldwide achieve their sustainability goals. This platform has high water resistance and excellent seal characteristics designed for high-speed fin and lap seal form-fill-seal applications."

Designed specifically for bathroom tissue, paper towels, and feminine care products, RP-1050 leverages ProAmpac’s HD flexographic printing to enhance brand visibility and consumer engagement.

Available in natural kraft or bleached versions, it offers a versatile, high-performance, and easily recyclable solution to the market.

Last month, the company reported a 3.59% increase in its scope 1 emissions for 2023 compared to the 2021 baseline.

In September last year, ProAmpac unveiled its new patent-pending ProActive RP-1000 High Barrier packaging solution.
