Global cosmetics packaging manufacturer Quadpack has announced commencement of production of its Regula Airless Refill products range in the Americas region.

The company has carried out this expansion effort in collaboration with Connecticut, US-based injection moulding company Colt’s Plastics.

Colt’s specialises in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) injection moulding for cosmetics packaging.

Quadpack Americas vice-president Anthony Le Minoux said: “Colt’s Plastics is a great fit for Quadpack.

“It mirrors our strengths in PET injection, service levels and sustainable best practice. It is exactly the partner we need to meet market demand for ‘Made in USA’ premium airless packaging.

“This first move into local production paves the way towards optimising our industrial footprint in line with our strategic objective of smart, regional expansion.”

Quadpack's airless technology offers protection to the enclosed products/formula along with a high restitution rate, precision dosage, and 360-degree usage.

It is claimed to be the first Quadpack range to be introduced in the region.

The airless range also features a metal-free pump and comes with a refillable mechanism to ensure easy removal and insertion of refill cartridges.

Brands and companies in the Americas can now acquire the Regula Airless Refill range in both PET and post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET variants, now with shorter lead times and reduced carbon footprint.

Colt’s has already completed successful trials of this range with 15ml, 30ml, and 50ml moulds in PET and PCR PET.

It is now preparing for the full-scale production of Regula Airless Refill in 2024.

In a separate development, Quadpack has launched a new range of monomaterial lipsticks, made using recyclable materials.

The range includes five different products - refillable aluminium lipstick ‘Oculus’, polypropylene-made ‘Menara’, PET lipstick with high-density PE cap ‘Emerald’, as well as PET lipsticks ‘Kouros’ and ‘Reforma’.

This range can be used for a variety of formulas, including lipstick, blush, concealer, and even solid fragrance.

In April this year, Quadpack was selected by Danish skincare brand NUORI to provide Regula Airless packaging for its The One product line.

Metaverse in the packaging sector

Many of the vital metaverse technologies are already being used or piloted by packaging companies, who have brought together AI, AR, VR, cloud, the IoT, and other technologies to monitor and maintain key assets remotely. The sector could also use immersive metaverse solutions to optimize packaging design and quality control—testing prototypes in a virtual world before bringing them to market. Another disruptive benefit of the metaverse will be using underlying blockchain and digital twin technologies to assist in creating more transparent and traceable supply chains.
