RR Donnelley (RRD), a provider of marketing and supply chain solutions, has invested in four new presses to expand its label production capacity.
The new presses are installed in its ISO 9001:2015 certified facilities across the US.
Expected to be fully operational by mid-2024, the presses will improve total throughput, improving efficiency and flexibility to meet customers’ demand in the e-commerce market.
The new machinery includes two ETI flexo presses for creating pressure-sensitive label stock and one Mark Andy P9 flexo press for variable image labels.
In addition, a Mark Andy digital hybrid press will be installed to serve clients rapidly in a changing market.
RRD Packaging and Label segment president Lisa Pruett said: “The market is constantly changing, and with our highly connected, global network we remain committed to investing in the right technology to meet our clients’ evolving label needs.
“Speed to market, high-quality products, and strong partnerships are important to our clients – we continue to keep those priorities top of mind.”
Besides the presses, RRD plans to open an advanced label quality lab to support clients by evaluating and developing products before production.
The lab, set to be operational by early May 2024, will provide analysis of paper, printability, testing of adhesive properties, quick ageing and exposure analysis and other label industry-related testing procedures.
RRD's investments highlight its commitment to providing labels that are cost-effective, high-quality and leverage the latest technology for speed and efficiency.
The company has been delivering marketing, packaging, print and supply chain solutions to 18,000 clients across 27 countries.
