Global healthcare packaging manufacturer Sanner Group has acquired medical device designer and developer Springboard for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition advances Sanner’s strategy to expand its contract development and manufacturing organisation services within the medical technology and diagnostics sectors.

The acquisition will bolster its in-house capabilities and help establish a new Design Center of Excellence in the UK.

The new centre will facilitate the company’s high-growth market.

With a team of 30, Springboard transforms initial concepts into manufactured medical devices, offering engineering and scientific skills.

The company specialises in drug delivery devices such as autoinjectors and infusion pumps, as well as equipment for respiratory, surgical, and diagnostic applications.

Alvarez & Marsal acted as the financial advisor to Sanner during the transaction while Norton Rose Fulbright served as the legal advisor.

Sanner CEO Hans-Willem van Vliet said: “Sanner Group has transformed from a market leader in desiccant closures and effervescent tablet packaging, to a sought-after provider of customer-specific solutions in the fields of medical technology, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals and consumer healthcare.

"The acquisition of Springboard further strengthens this offering, giving our customers deep expertise and support across the entire medical device development process, from initial concept design to commercial manufacturing."
