Packaging solutions provider Sealed Air has partnered with Best Buy to enhance the retailer's use of recycled packaging content for product shipments across North America.
Sealed Air's packaging experts collaborated with Best Buy to curate a suite of products that significantly cut down on the use of new plastic in packaging.
The solutions now employed by Best Buy include BUBBLE WRAP High Recycled Content Bubble Cushioning, which boasts at least 90% recycled plastic and carries the How2Recycle label, indicating it is suitable for Store Drop-Off at participating retailers.
Best Buy has also adopted BUBBLE WRAP brand Recycled Content Inflatable Air Pillows, which are made with a minimum of 50% recycled plastic, including 30% post-consumer recycled plastic.
Additionally, the retailer uses BUBBLE WRAP brand Paper Bubble Mailers, containing at least 38% recycled paper and are kerbside recyclable and widely accepted by US recycling facilities.
Sealed Air materials innovation VP Tiffani Burt said: "Making sustainability progress cannot be done alone, and an opportunity like this to help Best Buy improve the packaging they use to ship products every day is a great example of the work we are doing at Sealed Air to solve our customers' critical packaging challenges.
"Best Buy's championing of recycled-content solutions is allowing them to make great strides in their work to reduce virgin plastic in their shipping."
In addition to providing packaging solutions, Sealed Air has facilitated the collection of plastic waste from Best Buy distribution centres to ensure its recycling, further contributing to the sustainability initiative.
