SGT, a French polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging solutions provider, has partnered with Event Wine Solutions to launch a new 100% recycled PET (rPET) wine bottle for the UK event market.

This initiative aims to comply with the high standards and sensitivities of the UK event market and offer high-quality wines packaged in sustainable bottles without compromising food safety and taste.

The partnership combines the expertise of wine producers from Bulgaria and Greece to develop the new product.

The new monomaterial wine bottles developed by the two companies are claimed to be made entirely from rPET and are fully recyclable, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint in the packaging sector.

The bottles, which are both lightweight and durable, adhere to the strictest food-grade standards to preserve the wine's organoleptic properties.

SGT has provided two neck finishes for the product, BVS 30 H and BVP 22H30.

The rPET used in these bottles is sourced from SGR, SGT's recycling division.

For longer preservation, the wine preforms are available in a multilayer version.

The 100% rPET wine bottle from SGT and Event Wine Solutions will address the demand from organisers and consumers in the UK event market for products that meet both high standards and environmental preservation.

“This European collaboration perfectly embodies the harmony between winemaking tradition and technological innovation, offering a new wine consumption experience through a modern and eco-friendly bottle,” a statement by SGT said.

SGT, which is based in Rezé, manufactures PET preforms and packaging solutions.
