Sidel has joined forces with EcoVadis, a renowned sustainability assessment company, to drive its sustainable supply chain initiatives.
Under this collaboration, EcoVadis will evaluate and rate the environmental, social, and ethical performance of Sidel’s suppliers, aligning with the company’s new supply chain strategy.
With over 17 years of experience, EcoVadis has assessed more than 125,000 companies globally, focusing on key areas such as environmental impact, labour standards, ethical practices, and sustainable procurement.
This partnership marks a significant step for Sidel in enhancing its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.
Empowering suppliers for sustainable practices
Francesca Bellucci, ESG head at Sidel, emphasised, in a statement, the importance of strong supplier relationships in achieving ESG objectives.
“Our sustainable supply chain strategy is central to our ESG practices: more than 10% of our greenhouse gas emissions occur upstream, and we take full accountability for human rights enforcement across the full value chain. Strong relationships with suppliers are pivotal to reach our ambitious ESG objectives.”
By transitioning to EcoVadis assessments and encouraging its suppliers to engage with platforms such as SEDEX and CDP, Sidel aims to integrate sustainability throughout its supply chain.
Driving compliance and sustainability
Sidel’s partnership with EcoVadis aligns with its commitment to comply with the EU's Green Deal principles and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
Through this collaboration, Sidel aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in its supply chain by 2030 while upholding human rights and ethical governance standards.
Promoting communication and collaboration
Julien Carboni, strategic account executive at EcoVadis, stressed the importance of communication and collaboration in fostering sustainable practices among suppliers.
“Communication and collaborative action are the keys to success when supporting suppliers to embrace sustainability practices. By working with EcoVadis, Sidel’s suppliers can meet growing regulatory and due diligence requirements while demonstrating their sustainability commitment to their customers with a trusted sustainability rating.”
Bellucci reiterated Sidel’s dedication to transparent collaboration across its value chain, adding: “At Sidel, we believe that a healthy and transparent collaboration across the entire value chain is the only way to meet the challenge of creating a greener and better future for all.”
