With its new PET bottle for liquid dairy products, Sidel is hoping to increase its foothold in providing packaging solutions to the global dairy market, which was valued at $653.7bn in 2022 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 17% by 2027.

The mini-size packaging has been designed for products such as drinking and probiotic yoghurts with capacities between 65ml to 150ml and is ideally suited for ambient and cold chain processes. The bottle would also suit applications within the juice, nectar, soft drinks, isotonics, and tea sector.

The available 'ultra-light' bottle formats are one-shot or multi-serve consumption, the use of white or transparent PET and a wide range of bottle necks and caps. It is also compatible with roll-fed or sleeve labelling.

The preform has a wide process window even with reduced heating zones which is said to offer optimum material distribution for a high-bottle performance. The material is qualified for 100% rPET content and enables a low blowing pressure below 15 bars.

The bottle is also suitable for high production speeds with up to 66,000 bottles per hour.

Sidel packaging innovator leader Laurent Naveau commented: “This new format has been launched to support the liquid dairy product industry where the use of PET packaging has increasingly become an attractive alternative”.

Sidel has worked with several international dairy manufacturers this year alone, including Yili Group and Hainan Chunguang Foodstaff in China and Niche Cocoa Industry in Ghana.
