SK Chemicals has officially received APR Critical Guidance Recognition (ACGR) for five of its recyclable materials from the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) in the US.
The materials include Claro100, Claro100-CR50, ECOTRIA R102, ECOTRIA R200, and SKYPET CR BL.
According to SK chemicals, the products have been verified to possess polyethylene terephthalates (PET) properties that make them recyclable alongside commonly used water bottles. Some of the properties are viscosity, injection mouldability, and glass transition temperature.
Claro100, Claro100-CR50, ECOTRIA R102, and ECOTRIA R200 features excellent transparency and chemical resistance and are primarily used in the production of cosmetic containers.
The SKYPET CR BL meets the food contact standards of the FDA and is being used by South Korean bottled water brand, Samdasoo.
The company expects this recognition to expand sales of its recyclable materials globally.
SK chemicals US subsidiary CEO Jang Hae-geun said: "The global market trend is moving toward sustainable products that reduce, reuse, and recycle plastic.
"With this APR Critical Guidance Recognition (ACGR), we plan to make efforts to expand our market share of global recycled plastics, not only in North America but also in other parts of the world."
SK Chemicals manufactures chemical and life science products, with focus on the development of biocopolyesters, copolyesters, PET and engineering plastics.
Recently, the company announced using 100% of its circular recycled (CR) polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin for manufacturing new packaging for South Korean food company Ottogi’s products.
