Smurfit Kappa Snodland, part of paper packaging company Smurfit Kappa, has become a patron of the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce.

Building on its experience working with businesses and councils, the company states that its eco-conscious ethos is something it aims to share with other Kent-based businesses.

The Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce is a support organisation representing the needs and views of the business community in the county at all levels, locally and nationally.

It advocates on behalf of businesses to ensure that their perspectives are considered in key decision-making processes.

By becoming a patron, Smurfit Kappa Snodland can support businesses when it comes to sustainability and recycling efforts, regardless of their size or industry.

According to Kent County Council, in 2023 there were more than 60,000 businesses in Kent, most micro-enterprises.

Smurfit Kappa operates a paper mill in Snodland and runs a local school programme to educate children about recycling, the environment and paper-making.

The company previously partnered with Kent County Council on the recycling of cardboard and paper from household kerbside collections and household waste recycling centres.

Smurfit Kappa reported a revenue of €2.7bn ($2.8bn) for the first quarter of the financial year 2024 and announced significant progress on its ‘Better Planet 2050’ sustainability goals.
