Staples and Packsize to enhance packaging partnership in 2024 

The partners will continue to explore new technologies and strategies to reduce waste.

Workspace products and solutions provider Staples and on-demand packaging supplier Packsize are planning to strengthen their partnership in 2024, focusing on sustainable packaging solutions.  

This collaboration aims to further sustainability efforts and improve operational efficiency while empowering other businesses to follow suit. 

The partners will explore new technologies and strategies to further reduce waste and enhance supply chain sustainability to address the growing demand from eco-conscious businesses and consumers. 

Packsize CEO Rod Gallaway said: “Working together, we’ve transformed packaging standards and ignited a mindset shift toward a more sustainable future. 

“Staples' dedication to sustainability aligns seamlessly with Packsize's mission, and together, we are architects of change, shaping the fabric of how business, community and the environment coexist." 

The two companies have been working together for more than a decade, which claims to have yielded significant environmental benefits.  

Specifically, Staples has seen a 10% reduction in its corrugated use per carton and a 50% decrease in void fill usage by implementing Packsize's 'Right-Sized Packaging On Demand' solution.  

In addition, the total weight of plastic materials used by the company has been cut by 71%. 

These packaging improvements have also optimised delivery logistics for Staples by reducing the need for additional vehicles, resulting in lower emissions and shipping costs. 

Staples chief supply chain officer Amit Kalra said: "Implementation of Right-Sized Packaging reinforces our commitment to sustainable solutions for the environment and for our customers.  

"Staples looks forward to continued collaboration on innovative new technologies and practices that will further reduce our environmental footprint." 

Non-Alcoholic Beverages Packaging Industry Dynamics

In 2022, the soft drinks sector held the largest non-alcoholic beverages packaging market share, while the hot drinks sector is forecasted to register the fastest growth during 2022–27. Rigid plastics are usually a preferred choice in the non-alcoholic beverages industry because of their portability, convenience, and lightweight nature that facilitate on-the-go consumption.
