SÜDPACK, a film manufacturer, has launched a sustainable packaging solution, PET floatable lidding films, that can be cleanly recycled.
The PET floatable lidding films are designed for use with mono-APET trays.
The new product line serves as sustainable packaging options for sliced meats, ham, and cheese, without compromising on performance and processing reliability.
The PET floatable lidding films are engineered to match the performance and reliability of traditional lidding films.
This family of products includes a peelable version and a Multipeel option, both providing consumer convenience through secure reclosing and extended shelf life, thus reducing food waste and carbon footprint.
The Peel PET floatable film has a thickness of 45 micrometres, offering effective sealing performance against PET trays, even in the presence of contaminants like fats.
According to SÜDPACK, the film’s clarity, maintained through anti-fog properties, ensures an appealing product presentation, which consumers often associate with quality.
SÜDPACK emphasises the ease of integration with existing production lines, as the new films do not require costly adjustments to machinery.
The films can be processed similarly with conventional lidding films on thermoforming packaging machines and tray sealers.
SÜDPACK strategic marketing and sustainability, vice-president Valeska Haux said: “The good separability as well as low weight share of the top web in the overall packaging deliver a recyclability of over 80%. The first customer applications are already being implemented.”
The company is set to present the product range at FACHPACK in Nuremberg, from 24 to 26 September 2024.
In May 2024, SÜDPACK partnered with Zotefoams, an innovator in cellular materials technology, to ramp up production of its ReZorce monomaterial barrier packaging.
