Sun Paper has achieved the start-up of two packaging paper machines, PM 2 and PM 3, at its facility in Nanning, China.
“PM 2 and PM 3 in Nanning are the 13th and 14th paper machines in the partnership between Sun Paper and Voith. Our long-standing cooperation with Voith has taught us that a good business relationship is not only based on one-time success but also on mutual support and long-term growth,” said Li Lu, chairman of Sun Holdings Group.
Efficient start-up exceeds expectations
PM 3 sets a new world record by completing its start-up process within one hour from stock on wire to the production of the first saleable paper roll.
This reflects the collaboration between Sun Paper and Voith, showcasing their commitment to pushing the boundaries of paper manufacturing.
Voith's XcelLine machines meet performance expectations
Voith's XcelLine sees PM 2 reaching its designed production capacity within three weeks after start-up. PM 3 achieves this milestone within two weeks.
The machines have a wire width of 7.3m and have achieved a design speed of 1,200 metres per minute.
PM 2 produces paper with a basis weight of 140 to 250gsm and an annual capacity of 520,000 tonnes. PM 3 produces paper with a basis weight between 100-160 gsm [grams per square metre] and has an annual capacity of 480,000 tonnes.
The stability and quality of the paper meet customer requirements from the initial production run, highlighting the reliability and precision of Voith's technology.
The companies said collaborative efforts, trust and knowledge exchange between the teams have accelerated the implementation of these machines and reduced downtimes during the project.
