Susana Alejandro has officially taken on the role of president of Saica Group, succeeding Ramón Alejandro, who led the company for the past 14 years.

Susana's appointment, as a member of the third generation of the founding families, marks a historic moment as the first woman to hold the top position at Saica.

In her inaugural address to company stakeholders, she emphasised that her leadership would not signify a shift in the company’s strategic direction.

“As family business, we have a clear long-term vision and, therefore, succession in presidency does not necessarily imply a change in strategy," she noted.

“Our course variations are dictated only by the requirements of our customers and market fluctuations."

Susana highlighted the critical need to tackle climate change, advocating for the reformulation of production and consumption models and bolstering Saica's commitment to a circular economy.

She also stressed the importance of developing innovative tools to support the company's strategic objectives.

Saica's 2025 plan outlines its key goals:

  • Strengthening customer orientation.
  • Enhancing leadership in efficiency.
  • Achieving sustainable and profitable growth.
  • Protecting employee health.
  • Designing sustainable solutions such as zero-waste initiatives and decarbonising factories.
  • Building a global organisation with motivated and efficient teams.
  • Unifying under a strong Saica brand with a shared vision.

Susana also discussed the company's investment plans for its plants and the importance of nurturing and retaining talent.

Susana was born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1970 and joined Saica in 1996 after earning a degree in business administration from University of Zaragoza.

Before her tenure at Saica, she worked at Mars Group.

She eventually moved to the Corrugated Cardboard business area in Saica, where she managed Iberia operations and eventually oversaw the entire segment.

Since 2013, she has served as Saica's director of strategy and corporate development.

As Susana steps into her new role, she brings a wealth of experience and a clear vision for maintaining Saica’s strategic path and addressing future challenges, ensuring the company’s continued growth and innovation.
