The luxury fashion retailer has partnered with waste management company TerraCycle on the garment bag recycling process.

Canadian luxury men’s fashion retailer Harry Rosen has partnered with waste management company TerraCycle on a packaging recycling programme.

TerraCycle aims to keep trash out of landfills or from incineration by providing waste solutions and finding second lives for product waste.

Harry Rosen clients can now return used garment bags to any location for recycling, excluding Outlet stores.

TerraCycle will collect the bags and recycle them into other products, including gym mats, bicycle seats and pillows.

A Green TerraCycle Fee of $2 will be charged for each suit and trousers garment bag provided at checkout.

Harry Rosen will then add 500 brand points of $5 value to that client's account to use towards future purchases.

Clients are welcome to return as many garment bags as they would like. But only one credit will be issued per client per day, with a maximum of four per month.

The announcement comes after Harry Rosen began rolling out new packaging bags, boxes and accompaniments in late 2023.

Each new packaging item is 100% recyclable, made of 40% post-consumer waste — including the bag handles — and is Forest Stewardship Council-certified.

Harry Rosen president and chief operating officer Ian Rosen commented: "We're taking big steps to reduce our carbon footprint. The vision for our brand's more sustainable future starts by ensuring we are meeting our clients' expectations and offering them options that minimise the environmental impact of each purchase."

TerraCycle has previously partnered with major retailers such as Aldi and L’Oréal on recycling programmes.
