Tetra Pak, a leading packaging and processing solutions company for the food and beverage (F&B) industry, has launched a new programme called Factory Sustainable Solutions.
The programme offers a comprehensive approach to optimising energy, water, and cleaning processes across entire production facilities.
F&B producers are facing increasing pressure to reduce costs and their environmental footprint.
Traditional manufacturing processes are often reliant on fossil fuels and require a significant amount of energy and water.
Companies are also dealing with rising costs for raw materials, new carbon dioxide taxes, and fees for wasted water.
Tetra Pak said its Factory Sustainable Solutions programme addresses these challenges by providing a systematic approach to resource recovery and reduction.
The programme can be integrated into existing production lines to improve efficiency and lower costs in three key areas:
Energy: Tetra Pak offers solutions such as heat pumps that can capture waste heat and reuse it to power equipment.
It is also collaborating with companies to utilise solar thermal collectors to generate clean, renewable energy.
Water: Technologies such as nanofiltration can reclaim and reuse cleaning liquids used in the production process. This can significantly reduce water consumption.
Cleaning processes: Factory Sustainable Solutions helps to optimise cleaning procedures to minimise chemical use and water waste.
Tetra Pak’s approach goes beyond just equipment.
A dedicated team of experts will work with each customer to identify the best solutions for their specific needs.
This will result in a customised plan that optimises water, energy, and cleaning processes throughout the entire factory.
“We know that our customers are under pressure more than ever to operate as efficiently as possible when it comes to resource usage. This is, for many, an existential challenge to secure the future of their operations,” said Fiona Liebehenz, vice-president, Key Components, Plant Solutions and Channel Management at Tetra Pak.
"Through working with them and understanding their individual needs and objectives, we’re providing them fit-for-purpose equipment enriched with our holistic food and beverages application knowledge to address that challenge, delivering tangible improvements in a way that is financially advantageous.”
The Factory Sustainable Solutions programme is now available globally.
Tetra Pak said it plans to continue to develop and expand the programme to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
