Trivium Packaging has released its 2023 Sustainability Report, showcasing progress in reducing its environmental impact and promoting eco-conscious practices throughout its operations.

The report highlights the company’s commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainability, efforts that extend beyond internal practices.

Through partnerships and stakeholder engagement initiatives, Trivium said it actively promotes environmentally friendly practices across industries and regions.

"Sustainability is a fundamental pillar of our global operations and corporate ethos,” said Michael Mapes, CEO of Trivium Packaging.

“By embedding eco-conscious practices across our organisation, from sourcing to stakeholder engagement, we aim to lead by example in our industry and contribute to a healthier planet."

Climate action takes centre stage

Trivium prioritises climate action.

Its carbon-reduction goals, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), align with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

It is on track, exceeding its 2023 target with a 21% reduction in carbon emissions.

Operational excellence programmes and a commitment to 100% renewable energy by 2030 further demonstrate the company's dedication to reducing its environmental footprint.

This dedication was rewarded with inclusion on the Carbon Disclosure Project's (CDP) A List.

Sustainable sourcing

Understanding that a sustainable future starts at the source, Trivium strengthened its Supplier Code of Conduct in 2023.

The revised code addresses environmental management, energy use, water use, and ethical sourcing practices.

Additionally, Trivium boasts 100% coverage of its tin-plate suppliers under conflict-free material standards.

This comprehensive approach earned it recognition as a CDP Supplier Engagement Leader.

Engaging stakeholders for a sustainable future

Trivium said it acknowledges its employees, clients, and suppliers as key drivers of success.

In 2023, it launched two new employee resource groups - Wellbeing@Trivium and Women@Trivium - fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.

Meanwhile, Trivium's global plants actively engaged with their respective communities through 68 initiatives, including local cleanup projects.

Awards and recognition

Trivium's dedication to sustainability is reflected in its haul of 17 awards in 2023.

Notably, it was recognised for its collaboration with Anheuser-Busch InBev on sustainable Budweiser World Cup aluminium bottles.

Trivium also received Platinum status by EcoVadis for a third consecutive year.
