Valmet, a leading global provider of technologies, automation, and services for the process industry, has announced a significant contract to supply a high-speed board-making line to Anhui Linping Circular Development in China.

The line, scheduled to start up in late 2025, will produce recycled liner grades for packaging applications.

Valmet's OptiConcept M board-making line will be equipped with advanced technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and support Anhui Linping's expansion plans.

The order is valued between €40m ($44.2m) and €60m and is included in Valmet's third-quarter (Q3) 2024 orders received.

"This new partnership will help us achieve our capacity goals and support our business expansion strategy."

Valmet's delivery will include a complete board-making line, encompassing headboxes, a forming section, a press section, a dryer section, a sizer, a calender, and a reel.

The line will also feature Valmet DNA Machine Controls, Condition Monitoring, IQ Quality Control System, Machine Vision, spare parts, and Industrial Internet connectivity solutions.

The 9,300mm-wide board machine will operate at a design speed of 1,200m per minute, producing approximately 1,808 tonnes of recycled liner and fluting grades per day.

Anhui Linping, a leading Chinese manufacturer of high-grade packaging materials, has been a key player in the industry since its establishment in 2002.

The company's partnership with Valmet marks a significant step forward in its growth strategy and commitment to sustainable production.

"The customer wanted a supplier capable of providing advanced technology and supporting them on their digital journey. Our excellent cooperation during the investment project has resulted in mutual trust and a great relationship," said Kari Räisänen, vice-president of Sales, Board and Paper Mills, Paper business line, Valmet.

The new board-making line will further strengthen Valmet's position in the Chinese market and demonstrate the company's ability to deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the packaging industry.
