Cellular materials technology company Zotefoams has joined RECOUP, a UK-based independent authority focused on the circularity of the sustainable plastics value chain.

Headquartered in Croydon, UK, Zotefoams strategically prioritises key markets for opportunities to improve circularity or reduce reliance on fossil fuel-derived raw materials. Its other manufacturing sites are in Denmark, Poland, the USA and China.

The company is now part of RECOUP’s membership base of more than 180 organisations including manufacturers of plastic packaging and products, plastic recyclers and reprocessors, and waste management organisations.

Zotefoams’ latest sustainable offering is ReZorce Circular Packaging, a recyclable high-density polyethylene mono-material barrier packaging range that is the first viable alternative to composite barrier packaging.

ReZorce is the subject of a Joint Development Agreement with a global player in beverage packaging and a European retailer which is set to happen in 2024.

Zotefoams president of MuCell Extrusion Neil Court-Johnston commented: "It is fantastic to have joined the RECOUP membership base. We know we are in good company and are looking forward to collaborating with our new colleagues as we work together on our mission to support the sustainable use of plastics.”

RECOUP CEO Stuart Foster added: “We need to work with as many people as possible to help us achieve our aims of a sustainable and circular economy. This is something that Zotefoams and their ReZorce circular packaging solution can help make a reality.”

In late 2023, RECOUP launched a single-use packaging waste toolkit with environmental charity PECT.
