Crown’s business unit CROWN Food Europe has announced the launch a capping machine for European food and beverage manufacturers that provides sealing for glass jars and bottles.

The new Smart Capper, with its adjustable running speeds, is suitable for small and medium-sized manufacturers who may have to manage variations in their production volumes, said the company.

The capping machine, which has been developed in Crown’s Centre of Excellence in Aprilia, Italy, has been designed for ease of use.

With an ability to run at up to 150 caps per minute, the capping machine can be operated at a speed adapted through an electronic link to the rest of the production line.

Smart Capper, which is built from stainless steel with an easily accessible interior for optimum cleaning in compliance, provides easy manual cap and glass size changeovers, while a streamlined, functional design means it needs minimal maintenance, helping to cut down downtime.

According to the company, the Smart Capper has been designed to comply with EU directive 2006/42/CE on machine safety.

The Smart Capper is an addition to CROWN Food Europe’s capping portfolio for food and beverage packaging, which includes the High-Speed Capper, the Global Capper and the EuroCapper.
