Consumer packaging company Rexam has announced plans to invest around £20m to build a fourth manufacturing line at its beverage can plant in Ludesch, Voralberg, Austria.
The wall-to-wall aluminium can plant, which was opened in 2007, is located next to Red Bull’s contract filling partner Rauch.

According to Rexam, the plant, which currently produces more than two billion cans annually, is used exclusively to make cans for the Red Bull energy drink.
Rexam claims that, once the plant comes on stream in late 2013, the new Line 4 would be all set to add an extra 0.7 billion capacity.
At the Ludesch plant, the company produces a range of can shapes and sizes for Red Bull, besides offering computer to plate (CTP) and high definition illustration impact printing technologies on site.
With wall-to-wall production at the site, both Rexam and Red Bull will be minimising their environmental impact.

Rexam key account director Guido Klinkhammer, commenting on the new line, said: “We are delighted to be building a new line at Ludesch. We have a great working relationship with Red Bull and recognise their growing needs as a leading global brand.”
Rexam produces 60 billion beverage cans annually mainly for Europe, the US and South America.
The company has 16 can plants in the US, 22 in Europe, 11 in South America, one in Mexico, one in Egypt, one in China and joint ventures in South Korea, Guatemala and India.
