Packaging products manufacturer Coveris has invested more than £3m ($3.82m) in a new Flexo press at its HD print hub in Burnley, UK.
The investment is intended to address the increasing demand for advanced flexible print quality.
The new press, optimised with a 100% inspection camera system, delivers a run time of up to 500m per minute.
The new ultra-lean press also features rapid, automated setup, changeover, drying, and wash-up technologies, supporting Coveris’ No Waste vision.
This reduces the company’s energy consumption by 10% and cuts material, make-ready, and ink usage.
The installation of the new press, which will increase Burnley’s HD print capacity by more than 25%, is underway and expected to be operational next month.
Coveris expects the new press to standardise advanced quality flexo at the site alongside its existing portfolio.
Additionally, speciality conversion capabilities for sustainable barrier and paper films are being enhanced at the facility to support the bakery, confectionery, and fresh food film markets.
Coveris is also investing in next-generation plate technology through a partnership with Rivendell, enhancing its total graphics management offer.
This follows a recent announcement of a significant press investment at Coveris’ Louth films facility, underscoring the company’s commitment to the future of wide web flexo print.
Coveris Flexibles has recently garnered industry recognition, winning three Gold Awards at the FIA UK awards for various packaging designs.
The company also received two Bronze Awards and a Highly Commended certification, including a special category for Extended Colour Gamut.
