Energizer Holdings, a US-based manufacturer and distributor of primary batteries, has launched recyclable, plastic-free packaging for its products.

The company noted that its new paper-based packaging, designed to enhance the consumer experience and retail displays, will debut at Walmart stores across the US from March, with a broader rollout planned for this year.

The redesigned packaging from Energizer aims to simplify the shopping, opening, and storage process for customers.

It features a sleek, user-friendly design that facilitates use and enhances the visual appeal of the products on store shelves. This initiative is expected to benefit retail partners by facilitating easier merchandising of the batteries.

The company explained that its investment in research has led to the development of a consumer-friendly and environmentally responsible structure.

The new packaging allows for effortless opening and includes boxes that make storing unused batteries convenient for consumers.

Walmart senior vice-president and general merchandising manager for chilled beverage and convenience Tyler Lehr said: “We are excited to bring this innovative packaging from Energizer to our customers and store operators and enhance the battery shopping experience.

“Their plastic-free packaging initiative is aligned with our mission as we continue on our path to becoming a regenerative company.

“Working closely with suppliers like Energizer on this project helps provide customers more convenient and visually appealing ways to purchase batteries.”

Energizer executive vice-president and chief marketing officer Lori Shambro said: “With a legacy of pioneering innovative solutions that benefit consumers globally, advancing the sustainability of our packaging was a natural next step on our responsibility journey.

“We set out to create a more intuitive design tailored to meet the needs and expectations of our shoppers and retail partners.

“Our end result is a forward-thinking design that enhances the product experience and helps pave the way for a plastic-free future at Energizer Holdings.”
