Zwiesel Glas, a German crystal glassmaker, has chosen Mondi, a global sustainable packaging and paper company, to create custom packaging for its Handmade collection.

Zwiesel’s Handmade glassware collection encompasses mouth-blown glassware.

Mondi said that it has created packaging that safeguards these fragile items while offering a premium unboxing experience.

The outer layer of the new packaging is crafted from 190g uncoated containerboard paper, featuring offset printing, an embossed Zwiesel Glas logo, and silver foil details.

Inside, the box contains white fonts on coloured paper, printed via flexographic printing.

The new packaging has been created after several iterations, focusing on choosing the right paper and embossing methods to suit Zwiesel Glas’s high-end brand.

Mondi and Zwiesel Glas have worked together since the 1980s.

Zwiesel Glas Brand and Product Management director Lisa Müller said: “Owning one of our handmade pieces is about more than just the glass – it’s about creating memorable moments.

“Mondi’s thoughtful packaging makes that first interaction truly special, enhancing the connection customers feel from the moment they unbox our product.”

Last December, Polish paper packaging company Dobis teamed up with Mondi to improve production efficiency and refine its paper grades for shopping bags.

The collaboration targeted the fashion, fast-food, and retail sectors, offering sustainable options by reducing paper weight.
