US-based packaging solutions provider Ball is planning to build a one-line beverage can and end manufacturing plant in Asunción, Paraguay, South America.
The one-line beverage can facility is expected to commence its production in the fourth quarter of next year. According to Ball, the production capacity of the facility is contracted under long-term agreements.

By GlobalDataBall South America beverage packaging president Carlos Pires said: “The economy is growing and demand for aluminium beverage packaging is increasing in Paraguay and surrounding countries, as more people are consuming beer and other refreshing drinks and more customers are converting to more sustainable, infinitely recyclable beverage cans.”
The company is also planning to expand the production capacity of its facility located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Ball noted that it has invested in Argentina for the third time in two years, in order to cope with the growing demand in the market.
With these investments, the company intends to meet the various customer demands with multiple can sizes in the growing beverage can market in Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina.
Pires added: “In Argentina, cans will continue to grow and volumes will likely double from 2016 to 2019. These investments will allow us to broaden our geographic reach into a new and growing market, as well as be closer to our customers in the area, which aligns with our long-term vision for growth.”
