By GlobalDataThe move comes as part of the company’s plan to replace its standard fossil-based resins by switching to sustainable materials.
The company is currently exploring PCR, post-industrial resins (PIR) and bio-based materials.
In a statement, Aptar said: “Aptar is constantly looking to replace standard fossil-based resins with sustainable resins and has made it an area of focus within the company’s Innovation Excellence organisation with the goal of increasing its offering of sustainable dispensing solutions for the market.”
In a bid to contribute to the creation of a sustainable economy, Aptar has set up a Sustainable Materials Task Force that focuses on incorporating customer, consumer and regulatory expectations for sustainable product offerings.
Aptar will use the Task Force in order to establish a network of sustainable material suppliers.
The move will also enable the company to improve the quality of its database and offer ready-to-use solutions.
Among the tests carried on PCR and other bio-based materials, the company’s GS and GSA dispensers containing actuator, closure and dip tube components qualified as sustainable solutions.
The dispensers completed a lifecycle assessment (LCA) and achieved an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
