German dairy company Landliebe Molkereiprodukte has introduced SIG’s combiSwift closure with tethered cap (TC) for its products, becoming the first manufacturer to do so.

Landliebe has launched UHT milk in combiblocSlimline carton packs featuring SIG’s combiSwift TC under its Landliebe brand.

According to SIG, the combiSwift TC is easy to use and is compatible with its existing filling lines and closure applicators.

The solution is designed to deliver investment security for beverage producers in Europe.

The closure can be fixed in a preferred position by being pressed down, allowing consumers to drink or pour from the pack without the cap getting in the way or having to hold it.

The pack can be closed as usual by simply lifting the cap slightly before closing it.

SIG DACH and ISEEI senior marketing manager Frederic Faber said: “The first launch of our combiSwift TC closure is a great example.

“Our range of closures with tethered caps reassure customers like Landliebe that we remain the right partner to help them meet regulatory requirements and growing consumer and retailer demand for sustainable packaging.

“We’re proud to offer an effective and futureproof filling solution, which applies our new tethered caps, without any need for significant investment.”

The launch of combiSwift TC comes ahead of the EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive deadline, which requires all single-use beverage containers to feature caps by July 2024.

SIG’s combiSwift TC is one of three closure innovations for its packs in Europe. The company also offers the domeTwist TC, which is available for its carton bottle combidome, as well as the combiMaxx TC for family-size carton packs.

Landliebe had previously adopted SIG’s combibloc ECOPLUS packaging material, which does not feature an aluminium layer, for its products.

Last month, Dutch beverage company Riedel selected SIG’s portable combismile carton pack for its juice range.
