Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. The acquisition is part of Kemira’s strategic objective to streamline its portfolio.
In September last year, both the parties reached a definitive agreement for the deal.
At the time of signing the agreement, ChromaScape CEO Seth Tomasch said that the transaction will help the company expand its position in the paper dye market.
Kemira will continue to partner with the colorants business’s new owner even after the deal completion. It will secure further value creation for ChromaScape and Kemira’s joint customer base.
As part of the purchase, ChromaScape will add 59 experienced Kemira staff and a production facility at Goose Creek, Bushy Park in South Carolina, US to its team.
The colourants dye business generated a revenue of around €50m in 2021.
Kemira offers a range of colourants, including basic and direct dyes, organic pigments, and special colourants, for several paper and packaging applications.
These are used in tissue, cardboard, and newspaper, as well as jewellery, cosmetics, and food products packaging applications.
Kemira will retain its colourants business related to the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
ChromaScape, which has five manufacturing and distribution facilities across the US, offers speciality colourants and additive solutions for customers in different industries.
