Ardagh Glass Packaging has manufactured 100% recyclable glass bottles for mineral water brand Splendor Water.
The bottles were previously plastic, while the new indigo-coloured glass material is intended to increase the water’s level of preservation. The product is available in 350ml and 750ml bottles.

However, there is currently a global shortage of glass material due to increasing demand. An industry spokesperson recently told Packaging Gateway that “We are of course clearly noticing the trend away from plastic packaging towards container glass. As a result, capacities are becoming scarcer and prices are higher for our industry.”
Ardagh Glass Packaging vice president for beer and beverage Rashmi Markan commented: “We enjoy collaborating with brands such as Splendor Water to launch products in 100% recyclable glass packaging.”
The company recently opened a centre of excellence in Cape Town to offer IT services to its businesses across Europe, the Americas, and Africa, as well as constructing a hybrid furnace at its glass production facility in Germany.
Ardagh Group operates 65 metal and glass production facilities in 16 countries, employing more than 21,000 people.
