By GlobalDataAll these materials, the company said, are either considered 100% renewable or have received ‘green’ certification from the Forest Stewardship Council or the Ministry of Environment in Korea.
Each of these shipping boxes has the capability to hold up to 24 kits, which is 30% more than the previous capacity of the company’s Styrofoam boxes.
With this increased loading capacity, Seegene can minimise its transportation costs by up to 52%.
In terms of product shipping, the box is capable of sustaining the necessary temperature of below 4°C for a total of 140 hours, surpassing the current box’s duration by 15%.
Seegene logistics operation team manager Kim Sang-gyon said: “With enhanced global environmental regulations, it is not an option but a must for companies to use eco-friendly materials.
“To overcome this challenge, we developed an eco-friendly shipping box last year to deliver our products overseas in the best possible condition. It’s 100% recyclable and more efficient than the conventional Styrofoam shipping boxes. Initial customer feedback has been very positive.”
Prior to launch, this new shipping box underwent a series of approximately seven performance tests, as per the International Safe Transport Association’s 7D procedures.
The box also passed a performance test conducted by an accredited testing agency designated by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme.
The move is in line with Seegene’s commitment to good environmental, social, and corporate governance.
The company has filed an international application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty for the boxes while a domestic patent was filed in November last year.
