OxySense® announced today the release of its GEN III™ line – the newest generation of non-invasive oxygen monitoring and permeation systems. The GEN III line, based on OxySense’s nine years of industry experience, is composed of the 5000 and 300 series instruments which all comply with ASTM 2714-08 standards. The innovations of the GEN III line are built on OxySense’s role as the market leader in non-invasive oxygen testing, with more non-invasive systems currently being used by leading laboratories worldwide than other companies.
“The GEN III line of non-invasive oxygen measurement systems offers a valuable, comprehensive solution to oxygen measurement and, because OxySense has been the leader in non-invasive testing for many years, we are able to deliver these systems for very cost-competitive pricing,” said Peter Gerard, president of OxySense. “We wanted to significantly enhance our current models by adding a variety of new features and offer these newly enhanced systems at a price that will make your comptroller smile, even during these challenging economic times,” Gerard added.
The GEN III 5000 series is the oxygen measurement instrument of choice for labs and individuals who need to test or evaluate bottles, packages and other packaging materials through permeation studies, headspace or dissolved O2 analyses, shelf life studies, closure testing, scavenger and line start-up evaluations, and/or anaerobic environment monitoring. The stand alone system can be used for non-invasive and invasive measurements in oil, water and air, and also perform permeability analysis (OTR) for film, bottles and ‘live’ packages.
“The GEN III 5000’s small footprint and robust enclosure also make it ideal for the production floor and also ensure simple line start-up testing and random QC tests,” said Gerard. “Our complete line of application accessories, including the affordable and reusable OxyDot™ sensors, makes the GEN III 5000 series the most flexible and easy-to-use oxygen measurement tool available.”
The GEN III 300 series, which requires a computer interface, will perform most of the functions of the 5000 including: non-invasive headspace analysis for packages, bottles and blister packs; package material and design evaluation; closure design and evaluation; MAP production start up monitoring; research and development; QC and assurance; and product oxidation studies. Permeation study software is available as an optional accessory. The 300 is targeted at smaller labs, companies considering bringing their oxygen testing requirements in-house for the first time and companies looking for a low-cost solution.
The value priced GEN III line incorporates all the unique capabilities of the current OxySense system line, with an array of new features including:
- Expanded temperature measurement range
- Integrated pressure sensor
- New, more user-friendly software
- Integrated SampleTracker™ bar code software for managing multiple tests and samples
- New EasAlign with integrated capture switch for easier alignment and measurement
- Integrated report writer
- Real time graphical and test log display
- New 5000 series enclosure with slant-top, touch screen display operation
- New, more robust 300 series enclosure
“The GEN III line will provide packaging laboratories with valuable information derived from total oxygen and ‘live’ package studies, non-invasive oxygen measurement and real world shelf life studies, and ultimately expand their oxygen monitoring and permeation study capabilities,” said Gerard. “And in this environment, where the impact of packaging performance and cost on brand performance and profitability are even more evident, it is a ‘must-have’ tool.”
